Boat and sailors in matoyo beach

Matoya Bay is located at the central east part of Shima Peninsula. It is carved deeply from east to west and is said to be second only to Toba Harbour. It was used frequently as a waiting port for winds during the era of sailing boats. Along the bay are two story clap board houses. A boat with three sailors is pulled to the shore. In the background, a sailor sits on a pole usually used to dry fishnets.==Date:unknown, Place:Mie, Photo:unknown, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number19‐47‐0]
